So as a run up to the release of the Colonies Mod (Minecolony reloaded!!) we are releasing individual bits of the mod as separate stand alone mods. The first of these "Barbarians" has just been released - www.minecolonies.comLook out for the MineColonies Mini's Page Thanks all.

The main mod is still a long way off being released or even playable to be honest... These mini mods are direct content from the main mod though, so what you see in these will make the final mod... Next after Barbarians will be the Enchanter as a stand alone worker... Ie you can craft his chest and place it.. NPC will spawn and will work as the Enchanter will in the final mod... All without a colony set-up

As soon as each Mini is done, it's code will be added into the main mod.. So in theory for something like Barbarians you should see no difference.. However.. I'm not so certain the same will hold true of the Workers.. As stand alone mods we obviously won't code them to join a town, find a home and all that jazz... So once the main mod is running with the exact same worker the mini and the main mod will likely be incompatible (as they are both trying to control the same entity etc. Also we don't really want people being able to circumvent the Colony mechanics by using Stand alone workers from the Mini's - It would kind of defeat the point of the main mod.. So therefore I think this has just made my mind up to ENSURE the Worker Mini's are not compatible with the Main mod hehe Very good question though..

To Clarify, the biome should stay the same, so the Barbarians can be used, but to use an existing map with the main mod, you would have to ensure all the existing Chests, and NPC workers were removed form the Whole map. (not too difficult really.)

You should be able to use the minis on a server, but everyone would have access to the worker etc.. It won't be implemented to be owned by a single person for the mini.. We will be going 1.5 when it's out and forge catches up, but as I keep saying.. We're probably 6 months to a year away from a decent playable version of the main mod...(so probably MC 1.8 )

The biggest problem : Minecraft. I would seriously like to see : and it's an OLD thought: to generate a Mod that can plug into Minecraft, (regardless of the latest buggy version) : the Mod can stand alone or be used with Minecraft :
THAT is an old idea: and if it were done : mmmm Mojang would be dropping Zomnbie Brains trying to get their act together. Because Minecraft WAS the "IT" Game, but they are loosing the spot with all these versions and forcing total re-writes of feature-full extras that actually make Minecraft worth anything.

HI, HI I found : amazingly : a Minecraft Spin-off : it came out around the same time according to the dates but it is open sauced minetest.net/index.phpexcept for the name, it looks and feels like Minecraft : I think that if Mojang can not get their act together to assist Great Feature Mods like minecolony/ Colonies to write and play ( those hard working people are just getting trashed by new versions of thisd and that tossed out there with no regard for the fact that if the game of Minecraft did not bite the Zombie after 30 days Mods would never have been born so quickly and over-write nearly everything in the game ) : we could look at the alternative. Maybe the devs for the new Mod can look into it and see if they can work with it easier : I'll switcher-oo in a heartbeat, Minecraft has one too many eggs in it's basket and it needs some taken out. ( ** Not to suggest I am a dis-satisfied customer of Mojang: I get the Minecraft versions for free : I have never paid for them ( being a Pack-rat of original free products, does pay off sometimes in the future ) )

The next release will be for 1.5.2 as it's "Almost" there..
After that we will update to whatever version of minecraft happens to be the latest at that time (Likely 1.7)
