RScott the current developer who is the sole person currently working on Minecolony has given me permission to make the following announcement.
As you know some of us have been trying to recreate the mod after it went AWOL after 1.2.5 - Progress has been steady but slow, but we have reached an agreement with RScott to join forces.
We will assist RScott to complete the 1.5.2 Upgrade and quash them bugs to hopefully make it stable. The mod will be renamed MineColonies to reflect the merger and better reflect the future of the mod.
Once 1.5.2 is out, we will be updating to the "latest" minecraft and also start adding in the additional features we always wanted to add, a small selection of these is listed below.
The team should be up and running with this within the next few weeks. If you want to be a part of this ongoing development, or just keep tabs on progress, please see - www.mcmresurrection.enjin.com/
This marks an exciting chapter in Minecolony(ies) future, and hopefully see this great mod finally restored to its former glory and push on into new and exciting territory.
RScott will still be a major part of the development, and will have final editorial say on what new stuff we add to the mod, to ensure it doesn't go off into a bad place, but boosted by the rest of the team, hopefully the mods development will pick up pace!!
THanks to all who have stuck with this mod through thick and thin
Additional Workers that we have planned are listed below.. We will likely try and include 1 or 2 of these in each major update Post 1.5.2
We will also try and re-work existing workers, for example so the Farmer can grow the new crops, not just wheat, baker can make cookies etc..
Another feature (well down the to-do list) is to implement workers who can operate in the Nether.. i..e Netherwart Farmer, Quartz Miner (and future Nether Ores), Ghast Hunter - Super Archer Guard who can follow you whilst you explore the Nether etc.
The ultimate aim of our vision is to get MineColonies working in the SMP environment. This will likely have two modes, collaborative and PvP - Collaborative where each person can have their own colony, and trade with other colonies, and colony specializations come into play here giving bonuses to some workers while hindering others.. - Teamwork to create thriving colonies will be essential.
PvP Aspects will be along the lines of 4 factions of up to 4 players entering into factional and territorial conquest warfare.. Teams of players each with a colony (or 2 players to a colony perhaps waging war trying to defeat their rival colonies (Think Civilization in Minecraft and you won't be far wrong) - Colonies will likely be specialized and LOOK different based on their Faction (i..e perhaps Roman, Celtic, Norse and Spanish cultures for exmaple)
As you can see we have some exciting (and admittedly ambitious) goals. Any help creating these will be more than welcome.. Currently we have a team of 6 coders who will each work on one aspect of the mod at a time until that aspect is complete. There are so many aspects of the mod we could add/improve, we almost have the ability for an endless set of coders to all be working on it, so anyone with a coding mind, please come and help
Don't get me wrong, updates will not come rolling out on a monthly basis, but hopefully it won't take over a year between each
Exciting times all !!!
