In case you haven't heard, there's a pre-release of 1.8 out now. Don't ask me where to find it. If you're going to try to get it, make sure you download the one hosted by minecraft.net. There's versions out there that people have made to steal your accounts... so be careful.
It really is buggy, but I haven't found anything game-breaking yet.
I have no idea if MineColony works with it yet. If you want to try it yourself, be sure to back up your saves, because it may very well corrupt your saves, and crash your Minecraft.
Please do not post spoilers for 1.8 on this board, at least until it comes out legit.
Until further notice, this (and my brother's wedding preparations) will be eating my time. I'll still check in here, but my wiki projects are on hold.

I'll do my best for any minecolony related testing while refraining from spoilers. My initial thoughts (pre-comments on the pre-release ) would be that minecolony may need to be updated to be compatible first.

That's what I'm thinking. Notch obfuscates his code differently for every update. That's what most of the mods have to update to. Most of them don't change their coding at all for MC updates... just translates it to the new obfuscation.

Endermen are terrifying btw. Not much of a spoiler since it was well known they were implemented. Just trying to get a feel for 1.8 at this point, but the furnace seems to be broken.

Yeah, there's a bug with the furnace in the pre-release that causes the game to crash whenever you start cooking something.
It seems there's an item ID conflict with Minecolony. Went into one of my normal worlds and found iron bars in my inventory. My best guess is a citizen's chest.
Yeah, Citizen's Chests are now glass panes, Town hall chests are now melons. Builder's Chests seem to be iron bars. Farmer's chests seem to be cheese or something... Because of these ID conflicts, Minecolony will not be available for 1.8 until it's updated for 1.8.
Too many items has already been updated for the pre-release, so I can now look at the item IDs.. All the item IDs up to 109 have been taken, so that means all of the minecolony chests have been overwritten.

I need to get TMI for it then. The cheese thing is probably a sponge. Good to know that MineColony is not compatible with 1.8 yet.

Turns out it's a part of a mushroom... A full block is a part of a mushroom. This tells me that somewhere there are gigantic mushrooms I have yet to find

Zomg. NOM.
Ya know Vega, I've been avoiding forums and reddit and whatnot with the 1.8 leak out... I like figuring things out, ya know?
Anyway, I was wondering how the hell I'd find out when the update was out, since I'm not poking the interwebs.
Lo and behold, here you are. Answering my question before I even ask it.
How the ---- awesome can you get?
Do you know where the updated 1.8 server jar is? I'm running a server for my and my bf to play on together... and we get the forge crash problem if we run it from his computer... and mine doesn't really handle the server very well.
