I was looking at Better than Wolves today and I was just curious if anyone used it. To be honest, it looked kind of confusing but I assume that is just because I haven't played it yet.

I played with it awhile back, and really liked it. My problem was that it's not very compatible with other mods. FlowerChild (the person who made BtW) is pretty much a total d--- about working with other people.
Yeah, she's now working with the Buildcraft dude, but he's also a d--- in that he wants to sell a user guide for his mod so bad he won't put up anything but the recipes on the net. Oh, and his mod updates, which means the booklet won't stay up to date... and half of what makes Buildcraft awesome is that other people have made mods to it (addon? Is that what you call a mod of a mod?). Not really the person I'd be working with, but I guess it makes sense for FlowerChild.

I have to stick up for Spacetoad. I don't understand the whole selling the guide thing (and I have seen it, it's pretty pathetic, and it is for v2 not 3 to boot). It seemed something very out of character for him. Still I can appreciate not feeling like producing documentation for something you do in your free time.
He is pretty much done with it right now, he has passed the torch to Krapht and Sir Sengir. That was always his vision for Buildcraft that it was open source so it would live on after he lost interest in it. Have to give him props for that. The new maintainers are of course very familiar with it and both excellent modders (having made 2 of the best addon mods for it). Sir Sengir especially works like a madman. Forestry is constantly updated and being added to. His wiki has fallen behind a bit but it is generally very thorough.
FlowerChild...no comment. There are some things that are intriguing about BTW but it isn't compatible with much else so I have no use for it. Also not fond of mods that I can't configure to my own prefs. I have no idea if it works with Minecolony or not.
