I was trying to lay out roads in an effort to make a 'planned' city, but I always seem to get the placement wrong on the chests. Some numbers on were a chest will end up in the finished building would be great.
i.e.
Town Hall chest has x blocks from left, x from the right, x from the top, x from the bottom. (not counting the chest itself)

When I first looked at the wiki it told what size but not where the chest actually ends up in the building. If the size is in even numbers thats a problem or like town hall where its not really in the center.
And now the chest-building section in the wiki seems to be deleted.

Some of the floorplans are on the wiki but some are out. I'll do some measurements later and update some pages if I can help.

The info is in the floorplans. There should be a text file that comes with your zip that explains how to read them. If not, there should be something on the wiki and/or this forum. I'm just too lazy to find it for you right now.

I added Chest Placement and Land Usage Footprint images to the wiki, in the form of little blueprints on each building page. They look like so: The 3-digit coordinate in the lower right is the offset from the lower right corner (the darker grey box) to the chest, as listed in the floorplan files. It is how many steps to take from the lower right going left, then vertical, then forward. This works well for the x and z dimensions, but the y up/down is not always what is expected. For example, 1,1,1 will move one block left and one block forward, but the up/down might be on the same level. It's according to how the file was written, because there is the option to use a "base" level for the floor, and a "level 0." To anyone designing new floorplans, it would probably be a good idea to use +1 mean up one in the y direction and +0 mean on the same plane as the chest. It's how x and z work, so it would be a good thing.

I like Angles diagrams, much easier to read.

I like an Angles too but i think there should also show door placement. Since doors isn't always at the egde of the footprint of the building. Also should be nice if you want to plan your roads to the roads before its build.

"Footprint" of the actual building superimposed onto the block plan would be ideal as you could see how far the walls etc are to the edges. Quite often the walls are slightly im-board of the edges as the roof has an overhang etc.

Quite often the walls are slightly im-board of the edges as the roof has an overhang etc. It's an interesting suggestion; IF all the buildings were one-story cottages AND didn't change when you upgrade them, then it would be possible to describe a silhouette as where the walls touch the ground. Maybe. But how would we draw a silhouette of the hunter's blind, where the ground and the walls are not so clearly defined? What about the farmer's hut, which has no walls to start with?
