I might be missing the obvious here, but are the .floorplan files MineColony specific or are there other ways to build them?
The reason i ask is that me and a couple of other players want to make a Diablo I remake on our CraftBukkit server. I've played MineColony and know of the .floorplan files, and it seems like the easiest way to create the massive dungeon needed. It will take a lot less time to make in a editor than building it in "real" Minecraft. Still, i want to save the hassle of having the builder building in singleplayer, loading it into MCEdit, and cut'n'pasting it into my multiplayer world.
Also, what are the max dimensions .floorplan files can span? X*Y*Z

The only way is to use the scan function of the builder in game (which means building it first) - or manually typing in the codes for the blocks you want, but trying to get that to work will be a nightmare and take longer than building it in creative... There was talk of changing the floorplan system to use the same .schematic type files that MCEdit uses (which means you could build using MCEdit) but I think that is Waaaaaayyy down on the list of priorities right now...

Isn' t the scan function the exact opposite of what i want? Converting existing buildings into .floorplans?
I want to use the .floorplan format, as it is human readable, and make the dungeon as a big text file. Shellscripting will do A LOT of the work for me.

One of users have created an Floorplan Editor.

It doesn't really suit my needs, as it's Windows only and i don't really need an editor. I already have that.
I have more or less gotten used to the thought of building in Yogbox and exporting it with MCEdit. However, i think i saw a way of building instant without materials. Is that possible?

I don't know what the limits are for floorplan files, if there are any. Nobody's really tested it. There is an editor, but it's waay out of date, and the user who was maintaining it might not be active on the boards anymore.
As far as I know, only MineColony uses the .floorplan files, and the only ways to generate one is from using the scan function, or manually creating it using a text editor.

As long as buildding 100x100x100 isn't a problem.
I still want to know about a instant build method, if it's possible.
Also, thanks to the Minecolony team and the entire community around it. Minecraft just keeps on amazing me at how many different games it can become.

minecolony properties file : Line # 65 : builderInstabuild If your computer has the cpu power : make that line say : builderInstabuild=true otherwise it is NOT recommended for less then 4GB of ram. the properties file contains some really " cheating " features, but if your true to the survival mode, only adjusting ranges and some random words is used most by players : such as : I expanded the names of the minecolony towns and people : "Adrian X. Wilson" is one of my builders, I added the name Adrian last night and he spawned with it

I use the BuilderInfiniteResources=True and BuilderInstabuild=True functions when testing new MC versions, or building in flat maps to take screenies... Very useful settings for making specific things if you want to use MC for that
