Really want to play this mod... Would it be easier to just use forge instead of modloader?..

When Minecraft updated to 1.3, it changed a lot of things. The devs haven't been able to update the mod past 1.2.5...
Switching from ModLoader to Forge would require a rewrite of the entire mod, not that updating to MC1.3+ wouldn't anyway...

But there will be an update later? I think devs will give some news about Mine Colony update.

I have no idea if MineColony will update. The devs have said nothing recently.

I have no idea if MineColony will update. The devs have said nothing recently. I think they are suffering from a lack of money. Many of these Great Minds do things out of Passion and I respect that they Understand that Passion is where the quality comes from, but they still need to eat. IF they put rc19 up for $20 Ill buy it ( I know its good ) : rc20 is "nice" ( to me ) but I think it could be improved and I hope the next version takes care of all that : but I would still have purchased rc20.....you can't please everybody. As for Forge : nooooooes. that is a bad idea. Forge is operating on a Microsoft/Apple mentality that makes going Google look good. ModLoader is the BEST option, Free Spirit, Flexible and No Drama. I listened to ModLoader's interviews, read Forge posts, and the differences in Passion and Pursuit between ModLoader and Forge are like night and day. Sure some things could be easy with Forge, yes, but Minecraft is about a Challenge....Minecolony is about Creativity and Passion : Forge really does not seem to fit with its Bloated 600 pound Gorilla self into the scheme. * just my opinion: I got many, wait a few minutes and I can give you another

There's no reason to believe that money is the problem. The devs were doing this in their free time to start with.
ModLoader has had as much drama as Forge, honestly. It's all in how much attention you pay. In my case: damn near zero. The biggest problem with staying a ModLoader mod is that when a new update happens, you have to update your mod... and the bigger the to Minecraft, the more work it is to make your mod work again. Forge gets around this though, so you only have to update on major Minecraft/Forge updates. That means that if MineColony were to update to 1.4.2, and a week later 1.4.5 came out... if we stayed on ModLoader, we'd have to wait for an updated mod, but if we went to Forge, we wouldn't.
It's really hard to get publicity for a mod that isn't updating. Being included in modpacks like YogBox and Technic helped, but until the devs (or someone else) revives this mod, no amount of publicity will attract new users.

ITs a shame we have heard literally nothing from the devs in a long time.. I PM'ed one of them a couple of weeks ago suggesting a little update would be great and nothing

I suggest that the devs should adf.ly or some site that has ads so that they have income each time a user should download

For those wanting the mod to update, I would like to point out a few things. 1) Pm'ing the devs is probably a BAD idea. They already know there's a very high demand for an update and bugging them about it won't help to accelerate the process. 2) Personally, I would like to stay with ModLoader for a couple reasons. One, its a much lower profile addition. Secondly, the install is a lot easier to understand (for me anyways) and successfully complete. 3) If you aren't familiar with how the updating process works, learn about it before complaining about how long it takes to get an update to a mod. The latest MC update came out less than a week ago or so. How can you expect a mod that perhaps 2-3 updates down the chain of functionality to have an update before the prerequisite mods do?

I'm kinda holding of on using any mods until the API is in. Then I'll be looking at this one, build craft and red power.
