I, as well as the majority of this mod's devoted fan-base, have been wondering about the release of the mod in an updated version. While many people have lost all hope, this can be a new opportunity for the mod, placing it's development in the hands of skilled representatives of the fans. If we are able to put together a new group of developers, with the consent of the current developers of course, we can restore this mod to it's former glory. The only problem would be finding the new developers and convincing the old to relinquish their total control.
Please reply, I want to know what everyone thinks.
Cheers,
Graham

If a new dev team takes over this mod, I would be glad to support it with the www.minecolonymod.net site...

The copyright is the problem but if it is relinquished or permission is given to the new team we can make some headway for the devs. Until we get permission we are grid locked, but we can begin to assemble a team of possible developers and create a solid division of labor before we even start on the project. We need a clear plan as well as permission before we start so we can be efficient and get the new version out in the least amount of time.

I think the Creepers got them:( IF it were a Image set (or up to me) I would exploit the Berne Convention to do as I choose with it, but this is slightly complicated being as it is a program based language : you would have to attack the actual language and Intellectual issues, like making a Browser, they are all based on somebody's work previously, just adjusted, bloated and re-named.
In short: could we take it from them? technically speaking, yes : but you would have be very creative if you keep elements that already exist in the original.
I can not see a valid tool for tracking back the original site owners/ creators : I would go after the copyright and find out where it is filed, who filed it and THEN try to make contact.

Technically, Mojang owns all copyrights to every mod ever made to Minecraft, NOT the developers of those mods. It's in the TOS.
That is, of course, assuming that the devs even officially filed copyright, which I highly doubt.

That is, of course, assuming that the devs even officially filed copyright, which I highly doubt. Registration may not be necessary depending on where copyright is claimed. For instance, in the USA, a body of work is protected the moment it is 'created and fixed in a tangible form that it is perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device. ' Also, even though Mojang's code and game copyright belongs to Mojang, derivative works do not. Code created that is separate from the parent work does not belong to anyone but the ones who created it. Mojang does not suddenly gain copyright over people's mods just because they say so in their TOS. (which I'm skeptical of anyway; WHERE do they say that exactly??)

Huh. Nevermind. They changed it since I bought the game. In an older version, it said that Minecraft and any derivative or modified code for Minecraft belonged to Mojang. Now it says that mods are the property of the creator. minecraft.net/terms

Soo : if the community were to take rc20 : figure out why it is so deadly to the game, fix THAT : we have a start. THEN the community can go forward by taking the things they learned finding the problem to re-create the ideals of Minecolony look at these other Mods that employ basically the same themes with slightly different twists and add a twist of their own : One Twist is all it takes to take change a drink from water to fruit juice. **Note to "outsiders" : this conversation is designed to enrage the Devs with the idea that we can do these things : IF some 14 year old kid can create "Angry Birds" in a Library out of a coding Book off the shelf ON A DARE : Imagine what these loyal fans can do.

It would be very cool if some one could take over, It looks like more the old devs won't update this mod anymore.

The fact they won't even come here and tell us what the hell is going on is not a good sign whatsoever...

Damn inconsiderate and rude of them to ignore everyone who has supported their mod for so long if you ask me...

as far as im concerned this mod is dead. the devs havent told us about any updates for i dont even remember how long ago. this mod has practically always been behind minecraft. at this rate this mod will never catch up. i mean another mod that has been quiet just recently the aether mod had its devs tell the fans that it was still being worked on and its almost done. along with a few surprises. this is probably one of the slowest mod ive seen update. since idk 1.7.3 i think this mod have been behind and never been to date if i wanted to enjoy playing this mod i would have to go back like 2 or 3 updates to play it and then if i wanted to play with friends update it back to the current version. i know its sounds stupid and i sound lazy but having to do this constantly is a bit annoying. the devs should just say they stopped working on it for a while instead of just not posting anything at all.
