Ok, I have the bit between my teeth here and have set up a new Minecraft Collaboration Project site to start development on a new mod. The new mod will be a Minecolony clone, not the same, but hopefully will recapture the original goal and feel of the Minecolony Mod. All of you who wish to assist in it's development, please take a look at mcmresurrection.enjin.comMost of the site is restricted to confirmed users only (to protect the code/ideas etc.) There is an application process to go through to apply for a position in the development team, and I will publicize this venture on the minecraft forums as well, but will likely give preference to people from here who have a good knowledge of the original mod. I want to attempt to do this mods development in a more organised and professional manner, and hopefully one day it can be as good as/better than the minecolony mod before it's demise...

Most of the site is restricted to confirmed users only (to protect the code/ideas etc.) There's no need for secrecy, because as a Minecraft mod it's a not-for-profit venture. The code is not a corporate property, and as such doesn't have to have the burden of lousy coding just to get it done quickly, behind closed doors. Open Source is the way to go. Have the code online, freely viewable by all people with interest and expertise. Not only will the availability of good ideas will go up, but their frequency as well. Use an SVN server, such as google code. It maintains version control, revision history and branching, code checkout and updates. The process and tools have been refined over many years, and is a well-developed best practice.

True I guess open source might be better.. I'll leave it up to the coders to decide really though.. they might not want their work freely out there ??

There's no real reason not to have it open source. Again, since it's not for profit, there's no reason to hide code. It would also encourage collaboration between different coders, and coders could help short-term instead of having to commit to the whole project.

I only crossed out testers as we have more of them than coders/graphics...but technically the application is still open. Pop over to the site and register anyway.. the more ideas/input we have the better, and you can always help out in other ways too All discussion etc will be undertaken at the new site linked in the OP.. It's not right/fair to take over these boards for that purpose...

Is there anyone how is code organizer? I realized too late that I could have put that in Application. I haven't done it on any project but I could have time for that and I would like to do it.

This mod, is why Minecraft was created. I love it and want to see it keep going. I very much would like to help but I am not a programmer or anything. I could help test and look for bugs if that is something you need.
