Hiya,
What are the chances of getting mini-stripped down versions of the Minecolony Mod (or adding these mini features to the main mod)
What I would actually like sometimes is the ability just to place a miner, or lumberjack independently of a town set-up without having to worry about a builder, or a town hall, or citizen chests...
i.e. far away from my main town, set up a miner on his own who just mines and deposits everything in his chest... His building could auto-build upon command if the right resources are in the chest.. I have to manually give him tools/empty the chest etc...
Perhaps it could be coded as part of the main mod, that if you put a miner chest outside of the standard 100 block range of the town hall it asks you if you want to create a stand alone miner, either that or the stand alone miner has a different chest..
You could make the stand alone miner slightly less efficient than the standard town miner if you liked to still give a need/reason to develop the town.

Its an interesting idea.
How would the tools be given to the workers? Is the player responsible in this case?
How would spawning occur? It seems like it would very quickly get to the point where a bunch of workers without a townhall will be more productive than a town without a townhall.

I like the idea, just a freelance/unindepender miner, that build and made his own tools and house.
You must made the chest with more items for the chest

I think if you have to give the workers their tools yourself, and retrieve their produced items from their chest yourself, and if there are no freelance d-men... It could be pretty cool. And maybe they have to be outside a certain distance from the townhall, too.

Yep I'd say definitely you have to stock his tools manually, and empty the chest yourself... Also they should be about 60-80% as efficient as a town hall linked miner, so it's still advantageous to go that route (simply increase the time between block breaks to achieve this.) Could also make food a requirement of him to operate correctly..
As for night-time, perhaps the building for the remote miner could require it's own bed etc...??
