I downloaded the mod step by step and have fixed the properties error and whatnot but i can't technically build.
Once i make a town hall, it has the chest and the preset stuff in it, but when i right click it with the sceptar, both kinds, it only opens the chest. It does that with every worker chest too. One other thing came too my attention, when i place a worker chest, miner, lumberjack, etc. Its basicly just dropping a chest, no worker spawns from the chest like i see in videos. You can't build a house with the sceptar or build a fence. i started from scratch so i have no other conflicting mods. The only thing that seems to be working is the town hall chest, whereas it spawns 8 civilians that just walk around and pay taxes, no help whatsoever. I've seen the other forum topic about this but he didn't have the worker glitch it seemed.
is it just the updated version thats screwing things up?

The video is outdated. The scepters nowadays are only meant to build a fence around the chest (silver) or make an NPC follow you (gold). Reading the quick start section of this page may help you minecolony.wikkii.com/wiki/TutorialsIf you dont want to read for whatever reason, after you place your town hall, place some citizen's chest (crafting: a torch in the middle of 8 wooden planks) and place those down. Your citizens will move into them. Then place your workers chests, like your builder's chest (crafting: a wooden door in the middle of 8 wooden planks), your miner's chest (crafting: a pickaxe in the middle of 8 wooden planks, a better pickaxe will give more chests) etc etc. To put it simply, your citizens need a home before they can have a job. Also, scepters are pretty buggy at the moment, you'd be better off just not using them at all.

Yea i see what you are saying. I've built a citizen chest and town hall and built a home around the hall cause i can't prebuild one like you said is outdated. What do you mean by the npc's will move into the citizen chest? Does that mean like, i make a house, put a chest in it, then they will have a home? And when exactly will my citizen get a job once i build the house. Cause currently the citizen chest is IN the town hall. The builder chests are outside with the simple tools in them. Once they are ready to work will they just manually go to the chests and pick up the stuff they need to work? then work like a miner?
Thank you for the responce btw

You want to have your citizen's chests outside of the town hall, at least 12 blocks away from each other to give them space to upgrade.
When you place the first four citizen's chests, people will move into them without a house being built. After that you need to build the first upgrade of the house in order to get more people.
A male citizen will start to look for a job immediately once they move into the citizen's chest.
And btw, the builder doesn't require any tools, only materials to build the building with. Once you want something built, right click on a chest (Town hall chest, citizen's chest, builder chest, whatever you want upgraded) have your back facing where you want the door, and click "Build House"
