I did't see an option in the property file. So how do you add blocks to the list the miner goes after

You don't. The miner only keeps a list of stuff he SHOULDN'T go after. Things like glass/grass/doors...
Everything else is fair game. I need to add a parameter to add more 'common' stuff he shouldn't go after.

It might be a good idea to have it as a list of things he should go after.

Yeah, exclusionlist is better. It's nice that I can drop a mod in and have the miner mine it's ore. It's even better when I decide I don't like a particular mod anymore and I want to remove it and it's ore then I don't have to worry about breaking Minecolony.
Also, I am not 100% sure how he chooses but I have a suspicion that he won't go after fancy stuff without at least an iron pickaxe.
I have seen him ignore a lot of copper (IC2 ore) which is mineable with a stone pick, but once I upgraded him to an iron pick he went back to hauling it in (my initial playtesting I cheated in diamond picks so he hauled in tons of everything)
Also sometimes he seems to be stuck but he actually isn't. He seems to work longer days when he goes down deep. I've had him stay down there long, even gone down at night and he was still working. Storage was empty. When he did finally come up he brought a ton of stuff.
Anyway, my point is that you have to be patient with the miner. Make sure he has pick, shovel, torches and just let him do his thing.
