I'm sure all Devs hate this sort of thread, but I'm enjoying Minecolony so much, I can't wait to see the next version!
So just to ask the inevitable question, when might the next update come out? Might it be weeks? months? 6 months? just a rough idea?? :-)
What sort of updates/features might be in it?
You know, I'm so pleased with minecolony, I'd kinda got bored with minecraft, but this mod has given it a complete new lease of life, in conjunction with Millenaire too..
many thanks to all the Devs for entertaining me for the last few months!

Nothing exciting, unless you like looking at womens dresses. There are new models for the women of the colony.
I don't mind talking about what i'm working on.
I am adding proper inventory to the builder, which means he has to keep track of every iron, cobble slab, and stick. And put alot of recipes in the game (haven't figured out how to use the games built in system). Its a lot more complicated. But its a worthy goal.
Lastly, putting in support for walls. They already work, but me and vlad both sort of want more options so you can be more creative with them.

walls huh? would be awesome if you could use the caliper for it^^ you know mark one point outside of your village then go to the other side of the village make the second mark there so that you have your whole village inside the marks and then tell the builder hey guy build walls around the caliper scan area^^ i dont know if this is possible but it would be awesome i think

Hey I have some suggestions and didn't know where else to put them. This is an awesome mod, and I in no way intend to subtract from your hard work.
I would like the colonies to be self automated once you get them started. I realize what I am asking for: A blacksmith to craft weapons as well as a baker to make food and a fisher and a rancher already mentioned in another thread. Also, the Delivery man would have to put items in other chests in his warehouse so the main chest doesn't fill up.
Since you've already said you're improving the builder, I think it would be cool to have an automate function, so he'll automatically build improvements when the materials are available. This should have a toggle and should exclude houses since there are ramifications to improving them.
Also, I find it terrible to play this mod on any difficulty setting other than peaceful since creepers make the game unlivable. It would be nice to have better protection against them and have the builder autmomatically repair damage from them including terrain damage.
You've already said you're working on walls, I'd like to second that.
What I'm really asking for is the ability to walk away from a colony for a while (say, to start a new one or explore or etc.) and find everything in proper order without creeper pock-marks
I say all this at the risk of sounding demanding, and I would like to emphasize that it is already a great mod and I do not wish to degrade your work.

They're already planning on doing a baker (which I am looking forward to!), and someone was talking about getting the delivery guy to use multiple chests.
Hopefully they'll make more improvements as time goes on.

I have a suggestion that ties into the baker and the deliveryman (and the rancher if that gets implemented as well I guess). To give the wives something more useful to do (assuming we stop them from killing small animals, which would be necessary for ranches) have them pickup food and also drop their stuff off from house to warehouse. Remove the houses from the deliveryman altogether; only have him go between worker chests.
Also deliveryman & builder working range. Since you should only have 1 of each of these in your colony or you are gonna have problems, why not make their range calculated off of the townhall itself instead of their shops? Actually it makes sense to do so for everyone except the miner/lumberjack/farmer/future resource gatherers.

i think children shoud be added to minecolony and the have to go to school and grow and soon take up jobs Personally I'm against adding in NPCs if they dont serve an immediate function. Basically they'll be there, causing lag on lower end systems, but not really doing anything useful.

This is Minecraft, not "The Sims" - if they don't do anything productive, no need for them

One minor point that hasn't been addressed yet.... Sort of how long might we have to wait? is it a weeks or months kind of timescale?
I can't wait for the next version!!!!! :-)

All depends on what they changed with the client software under the bonnet...

Every time Minecraft updates, MineColony has to wait for the mcp to be done, then they have to convert their code to the new version. On top of this, they add any new features and bugfixes. The devs also have full time jobs and families. They don't actually have a whole lot of time set aside to work on the mod.
So I'm going to say it's more in the "months" than "weeks" timescale.

Is there anyway to just update to 1.1.0 but then add all the bugfixes etc at a later date because i really want to play this mod!

The problem with updating just straight to 1.1 is that it's not as simple as just changing the version number. A decent amount of the base code gets changed and the mods must update to reflect it.
So yeah, doing only a bare bones update would likely break the mod. In the meantime you can do a search for MCNostalgia and you can backdate your client to 1.0.0
And I wouldn't say the next version is months away, but it's certainly not likely to be today or tomorrow, or this week, maybe not even next week for that matter. Of course this is only speculation though and the only ones that can give a good estimate is the devs themselves.
