Hey, some of my friends and I are creating a new Bukkit mod that will use the same idea as Mine Colony to gather resources. Different player will command different races and players will use resources they gather to expand their defenses and build any army to attack and conquer other players.
As you could imagine this is not going to be easy. We are going to try and do this mostly with just us working on it, but help is still welcome. Such as any skins, building designs and/or ideas that we could add.
The biggest thing we came here to ask is if we could use the Mine Colony source code to give us a starting jump (note we will not use your code as we update only to get us started). This is mostly needed for the NPC code, because we can not seem to get it. If you do not wish to do this we understand, but could you at least give us some tips/tutorials on how to create mobs as complicated as the ones in Mine Colony. Thanks.

There would have to be limitations on how close or far two people could build away from each other. Obviously you dont want your opponents 3 blocks away from your base, but you also dont want to take a half hour minecart ride just to get to the battlefield either.
The AI would also likely have to be smart enough to destroy the enemy's walls, if they are present, however I doubt the base minecolony AI will achieve anything near that.
You'd also have to find some way to dynamically control your soldiers that doesn't completely suck to use. I've seen attempts that do suck and that's the only reason I'm mentioning that.
I can't really help you make this mod great, but if you follow what I said and make it all work out, it wont be a terrible mod. Other than that, I think it would be interesting. For once I would have a reason to put my massive dispenser arrow battery into a wall to fire upon my enemies, rather than just putting it there for show. Hehe, my dispenser batteries fire about a total of 700 arrows per minute, not much survives it as long as they stand in front of it.

I agree with you about the limitations for building area. Also because the farther away from each other’s bases would create more lag.
The soldiers would probably not be based off Mine Colony’s code, just the base. The soldiers would have to very good in following orders and able to fight without doing stupid things, I agree.
For destroying walls. I agree this is needed if there are walls, but at the same time I do not want the armies to tear down the whole wall in just one battle. Maybe some kind of special unit made to destroy things that are in the army’s path?

I love whit idea i cn help you iknow a simple units for this mobs and you can start whit a littel village and built palace,houses,farmer,miners and jaklander and a three diferent soldiers archer,swordman and trainer please put review to play a litel part and help you

I have not had much luck and I am really new to modding so, all in all I have not done much. You are welcome to work on this idea. Though it would be helpful if you gave me some contact to you so that when/if I learn enough modding i may be able to help

Unfortunately, it's not about your convenience. He's doing you a favor, so it's however it works for him. He's on these forums at least once a day, from what I can see. If it's inconvenient for you, too bad.
