I think this mod has some real potential, and I want to share my thoughts on how to improve the mod a bit more. NPC's try to avoid a farmer's farmland. I've seen NPCs ruin & destroy several crops by walking around on them. Farmer domesticates animals with wheat.Since Minecraft 1.0, you could domesticate & breed animals using wheat. If you could find a way to code this into the farmer, that would be awesome! (Although I don't expect you to, it might be pretty tough.) User-created buildingsThis would further increase the customization of this mod. Although I have no idea how to even start thinking about how this could be done, it's still a suggestion. Delivery-man brings Builders corresponding materials when building structuresWhen building, Builders usually have to go back and fourth between buildings in order to find the right materials for building. Well, why not have someone else do it for them? It would make the building process un-interrupted. (If you have all the right supplies) Hunters retreat from mobs when too closeWhen Hunters hunt, they keep shooting arrows mindlessly at mobs regardless of their distance. This would help preserve the vitality of the hunters, as well as decrease the number of Creeper explosions. So, those are my suggestions! Although, I don't expect them to be put into the mod, I just wanted to get my thoughts out. Hope you guys like them! ;D

User created buildings are already a reality. Check out the floorplan pages on the wiki.
Some people have actually created standalone programs for designing a building and exporting to a minecolony format.

We are thinking about also stealing another Millenaire idea, and that is having floorplans be based on the biome.
We would create several folders under the floorplan folder and the floorplans would be looked up there. So there would be /floorplan/snow and a /floorplan/desert and lastly a /floorplan/default if the file can't be found in the appropriate subfolder.

Scott - good idea about building biomes, but rather than FORCE a particular building type based on Biome, why not have it as a selectable option at the chest... Perhaps it defaults to the biome, but you could chose to alter it for a particular building if you wanted..

The problem I see with having the Deliveryman bring the Builder supplies directly is that my Deliveryman is already busy! It's enough keeping my other workers stocked with tools and bringing supplies back... besides, after my first building spree, my builder doesn't do very much. He can take his time, because otherwise it's a "hurry up and wait" situation.

I think the women could help the builder. It silly it just being one person anyway.
Peter, i still haven't figured out a good way to do it. What if you build on the edge of a biome, do you want the builders hut to determine the biome, or the hut being build, or maybe neither! Still lots of questions to answer.

Perhaps read the biome that the sign or chest is on. So if the town hall is built between a taiga and a swamp, but barely on the taiga side, it would follow the taiga pattern.
Alternatively, to allow the entire village to keep the same theme, force all buildings to be the same style as the town hall. That way you wouldn't have situations where 1/3 of your town is desert like and 2/3 is forest like.

I still say let the women handle deliverys to and from their home. Take the houses out of the deliverymans job altogether. That would make him plenty efficient. The problem with him delivering supplys to the builder is that the builder can easily fill up his chest. There would have to be a set limit of what should be in the builders chest and the deliveryman would need to remove as well as add items. That or the builder hut needs more chests. I think having the builder get items at need from the warehouse makes more sense.
I really like the biome idea. I think it definitly deserves some more consideration and development. I'm with Peter on having it be selectable as well.
There are a lot of good things about Millenaire. I think both mods could stand to borrow some ideas from each other. I was really looking forward to the block id extension so I would be able to use both mods at once. Maybe 1.3...on a side note, silly me was also expecting IDresolver would be built in as well; just found out it isn't. Neither are more item sprites.
I forgot just how bad life sucks without the Forge.
