I tried this mod yesterday and I like what I have seen. However, I ran into a problem: I created 2 builders and, after a while, they both disappeared, and no new settlers would take their place, even though there were plenty of settlers and houses.
Eventually, by trying things I read about (killing off settlers, removing builder's chests, etc.) I was able to get one new builder, and it seems to work.
I later read that having more than one builder can cause problems, so I suppose that explains what happened to me. However, I'd like to know if the other workers are subject to the same limitation. Can I only have one worker of each kind without risking malfunction?

The problem with multiple workers is overlapping worker ranges. You can configure the ranges in the minecolony.properties file. As long as you place the workers far enough apart that they don't end up working in overlapping areas, there shouldn't be any problems.
There also is a "recall citizens" button in the Town Hall. Try using that when your villagers go missing. It'll call them to the Town Hall, and they only won't come if they're trapped somewhere or dead.

Multiple lumberjacks is fine, they can overlap too i'm pretty sure. Multiple farmers is definitely fine if their farms don't overlap. I haven't tested with overlapping farms but it's probably fine too. Multiple miners near each other is risky because they can dig out each others steps causing them to trap each other. If you are happy enough to check on them and fix their steps regularly then it's probably fine. Multiple builders is problematic as you have discovered. We should probably better support multiple builders by "tagging" a building site so no-one else uses it. Multiple hunters is probably fine. Multiple deliverymen is probably fine.

Multiple deliverymen isn't fine, as they interfere with each other's routes. IF you make routes for them using signs, and they don't cross each other's paths, it's fine.

Thank you for these replies, they are very helpful.
I found the builder's range parameter in the configuration file: is the builder's range a circle, or a square?

I think it's a circle, but I'm not entirely certain.
