Hey colonists I came across this mod by accident when I installed the yogbox and found the recipes for the town hall chest when browsing with Toomanyitems and was intrigued. I have been hooked ever since. I've been thru countless worlds trying to find that "perfect" spot. I finally found it and after doing *extensive* teraforming in creative mode, have loved the results. Here is a screenshot of my town as seen from high above! You can see the town hall in the upper right center and the fairytower and tower as well. Here is the view from the top of the fairytower. Now the fairytower was strange because as soon as the builder was done building it I noticed it didnt have a front door and it didnt have a floor at all, the bottom of it was open to the water. I don't know if building it on top of water caused that or not. Also the tower was empty inside. I was expecting a sprial staircase like the smaller tower I built but it had none. I added my own stairs to it as you can see. Now to my problem. In the first pic you can see a lumberjack hut in the bottom left corner of my town. Its quite a distance from the town hall and no one has gone to claim that job even though I have out-of-work males living in houses flanking it. Is it simply too far away? I have the level 4 town hall so I hoped it wasn't going to be a problem. Any ideas? Thanks, wario41 P.S. I love this mod!!

How long have you waited? Sometimes my citizens take a while before they decide to walk up to a chest and take a job.
I doesn't look to me like the Lumberjack's chest is too far. My own citizens wander much farther than that on their own. Have you considered building a road that leads to the hut (I think that by default gravel is the material that is considered "road")?

If they don't take the obvious job right away, try quitting completely out and coming back. There is a bug that sometimes prevents them from occupying a hut.

I started over today and built a map especially for minecolony with world painter that was relatively flat with lots of trees and an ocean on one side. I had to do a bit of teraforming to start off with because minecraft loves making holes into the underworld so innocent villagers can fall to their deaths, heh. Here is a pic of a night time overview of my new town. I finally built the castle and am amazed at how incomplete it is. There are something like 6 sections to the castle and they aren't connected to each other at all. Still its very impressive looking! Here you can see I built 'fountain3' to the side of the castle. Again the water source is never added to these, had to ad it myself. I added gravel roads and the villagers ARE faster when walking on them! I built two towers and both were completely empty inside. 'Fairytower' and 'Tower2.' Here are shots from inside both of them. That's tower2 and heres the fairytower. When you destroy a houses chest, why doesnt the whole house get destroyed with it? That would be such a great addition. I cant tell you how many times I've placed citizen huts too close together and wound with the houses bleeding into each other. Alternatively a way to MOVE the entire building, chest and all, would be great. Am I building these towers wrong? Or are they supposed to be like that. I'm just curious. Also, why do villagers try to burrow their way through solid walls at the back of a house instead of going through the front door? Is it some kind of pathfinding bug? Also whats up with the builders and their hats? Yesterday my builders wore 1 silver hat and 1 gold hat now their both wearing gold hats. wario41
