Hi guys!
I'm almost sure I read somewhere in the forum a while back, but I can't find it. When looking at the floorplans and dimensions, where is the chest in relation to that? Is the chest centered in the building? Or is there another way to find out where the chests need to go?
thanks!

If you check out the wikkii page, you'll find that there's a rough description of where buildings need to go. If you can't find your answer, you could always create a creative world and test it out.

In line 3 in the floorplan are 3 numbers. The first is how many blocks are on the right side of the chest. The second stands for the level of the house where the chest is. The third stands for the blocks that are in front of the chest.
So in the townhall lvl1 the chest is two higher than the base and 10 blocks to the right side and 16 blocks to the front side.

THAT is awesome. I can now download the graphics, and use the PaintShopPro (or whatever) to pre-design my village with the proper dimensions. No more houses being built inside other houses!

Thanks; a great way to accomplish this task is with an svg editor, such as InkScape. Set grid for 16px and snap to grid. It's much easier to move stuff around than paint programs. I started a City Planning Template; right-click/save as, because most browsers/forums don't know what to do with svg and end up displaying xml. Results of messing around with the template for about twenty minutes:

I'm on my way to work, but I'll totally check that when I come back. I think I heard the name InkScape before.. isn't it a MS-Visio replacement? Or am I thinking of something totally different...

Just downloaded your template, and InkScape. I'm on my way to work, but I'll totally check that when I come back. Some useful keyboard shortcuts: Ctl-D (duplicate) does a copy, paste, and select all in one keypress. Numpad + and - are zoom keys # turns grid & snap on/off
