There is also another way of having multiple instances of Minecraft of different versions that you can easily put minecrafts on flashdrives, it's called MultiMC, it's like a minecraft launcher, a minecraft modding tool and a tool to handle multiple minecrafts. It also makes installing mods in jars or mods folder(and coremods folder if you using 1.3.2)

Bug 1 - workaround is to delete the offending block that kills them, or edit the floor plan to remove it..
Bug 2 - try the repair function. It seems your building has somewhow got out of step with the chest level.. See if "repair" fixes it..
Only way to upgrade a chest without destroying the building if it is already built is to make blank floor plans with the correct name...
The other alternative is to just destroy the existing building, and turn on instant build and infinite resources in the property file and re build them for free..

You have to build 2 watchtowers, and they have to pretty much align exactly on a straight line (so the wall can be built between them) They also have to be at least level 3 I think.. There is a little bit about it here - www.minecolonymod.net/?page_id=359I would STRONGLTY recommend figuring out how it works in a flat testworld prior to trying in your main world
