Seems to be a bit of a recurring theme with me, I like to test minecolony in environments it was never intended for. First was the ant colony, deep underground near bedrock level. This time is Atlantis! A fully functioning (hopefully) colony all in linked glass spheres under the water. I'll be adding the spheres and doing most of the basic structure building with SPC/Worldedit For this I'll be backing up and deleting the contents of my floorplan files, so I dont have out of place houses in my domes, possibly breaking the glass as they get built. For an absolute success - They function just as they would on the surface. Miners would mine without destroying glass, lumberjacks will cut down their trees within their dome, farmers will do the same within their own dome, etc etc. For a moderate success - Some bugs (that may or may not be currently unforeseeable) But the colony more or less runs well. For a failure - lumberjack or farmer refuses to work, miner breaks the glass in his dome, etc etc For a catastrophic failure - everything goes wrong/buggy and creepers find their way into my colony. (by creepers I mean I get frustrated and lay down TNT everywhere) I'll keep you all updated.

A few hours into construction, I decided to put a few chests down. It would seem in all of my experiments that the farmer -requires- the surface. He wont farm if he's underwater or underground
The first level of miner seems to dig at exactly the level I put it at, so it's knocking out glass and such. I expect this problem would be fixed with upgrading the building up to at least lvl 1.
Lumberjack seems to be fairly content, even though I didn't make the dome big enough and he only has like 6 trees get can get.
Haven't run into any problems with the deliveryman or builder finding their way around.
All in all looks good so far, just takes a lot of prep work to make the domes

For the miner, i would hold off giving him equipment until his hut is high enough level. I think its 47, 47, 30, 9.

Yep, he was breaking the glass around him with nothing more than a chest. Upgraded to 2 and all was well.

I'm using redpower, minecolony, and CCTV in that map right now. Redpower is for the lighting system you see, CCTV is so I can control everything from a control room (Haven't got everything wired up properly yet)
For the domes, it was pretty simple, just time consuming to get everything right. As you can see the housing domes come pretty close to one another.
With SPC/Worldedit, noclip - so you can move through the water unabated and not drown yourself. You can also go straight through the glass and everything. light - so you can see everything you're doing underwater. It's dark down there. //hsphere glass 12 -It'll create a hollow sphere out of glass with a radius of 12. Note it's a complete sphere, so the lower half will go through the ground. Not that you can tell anyway. //replace glass - After selecting point A and point B for the walls of your walkways, just use this and it'll create a wall... Alternatively create a 5x6x(length) block of glass and just tunnel your way through it so you dont have to mess with water.
Remember to edit the floorplan files so you'll be able to upgrade your buildings without destroying your domes.
Also remember to avoid giving your miner his tools until the building is upgraded to at least lvl 2. Otherwise he's liable to just go around and destroy the glass.
And it wouldn't be a bad idea to make the tree farm dome alot larger than normal. you can see mine at the lower left of the lit up screenshot. It can only fit about 5 trees, and that's not very nice on efficiency.
