I hate having to pay every citizen after the forth. Usually I set their wages to $0 in the properties, but I wish it was a little more convenient and could be different per world. Maybe a GUI option when you are creating the world?
Please add, modders, in R21 or R22

Just so you know there is an option from the town hall chest to have auto pay turned on. In fact it should be on by default. Also while they may complain about the pay they will still work if auto pay is turned on. Ive seen the builder compain about his pay in the middle of building the town hall...

I have it set to auto-pay and never worry about it. I don't see why this is a problem.

I noticed that too but I hate it when they complain instead of telling me what they're holding.

So turn up the pay? I've never had them complain. It's not like you don't get enough in the treasury.

My builder says "wont build until you pay me 3 silver coins." Then he wont tell me what hes holding. He'll say Good Day still though.
(I think the whole payment thing is a conspiracy formulated by endermen).

So set up auto-pay and don't empty out your treasury all the time. Or manually pay him. I think you do that by clicking "pay salary" in his chest when you have the coins in your inventory.

Maybe I'm asking the wrong question. I should put this in bugfixes instead.

I don't know if it's actually a bug... I think if their salary is set really low then they're supposed to complain about it.

Just ignore the messages stating that they won't work until they get paid. They just forgot that they cashed the check is all. And they keep on working anyway so it's an idle threat. (the only time it's an issue is if a new worker took up a post AFTER payment already happened for the day, then you might have to pay him manually)
