I notice a lot of times people report that they get a 'Saving Chunks Error'
Just an FYI for everyone who doesn't know, that message is NOT an error. That's Minecraft trying to salvage your map as part of a clean shutdown which was a result of the actual error. In other words: "Oh crap! I've got an error and I'm crashing! Better try to save Starwaster's map so he doesn't lose half an hour of work"

yes : " Saving Chunks" does mean the game is trying to save your latest time Stamp : but it does not always mean " no problem " when you reload.
I found : after much tinkering : that rc20 must play on at least Easy for the features to work properly : many people like Peaceful for building or whatever :
for concerns with minecraft and other Mods : it's out of the box , but I believe that since we finally tracked down the ultimate cause for " Saving Chunks in rc20 it should not really be a complaint except that the " read Me " should remind players of such.

There's no such thing as an 'ultimate cause' for 'saving chunks' because there is no single error that causes Minecraft to quit (and which will then cause it to try to save the map first)
Minecraft and Forge each maintain their own logs where error events are recorded. That's where bug hunts begin. Not with 'saving chunks'. (and there's a dozen different errors at least that can all result in Minecraft displaying 'saving chunks')

I got one tonight, when pressing one of the buttons in the watchtower (assist other towers I think)
It was the second tower I had built

Well, seems to me that the world is not really flat... but I refuse this science and will go check my potions BTW : rc20 WILL play on Peaceful in a new world. I found it by mistake last night while I was in the wrong seed for the competition ( I had set the game to Peaceful for the rc19 save I was sharing with grandma.) So I stand corrected : Minecraft is deeply disturbing in how it can not be predictable with it's behavior.
