I would like to suggest a change in how the miner minds. Lets face it the AI will probably always find ways to get stuck or get himself self killed while being stupid, as such I would suggest that the mining be simulated/chanced where as part of the mining building prefab tunnels are dug and the miner just wonders within that predefined route/area (possibly making use of the exist AI system to get back to the area should he glitch/fall out of the area, like if the player decided to be evil and a mined a pit in its path, etc. What resources he would of course get would be based on chance and the lvl of the mining building. The miner would of course most commonly get cobble and dirt, but with higher lvls of the mining building, he would be able to get coal, iron ore, redstone, gold, diamond, emeralds, lapis, etc, by chance. And with increased level the odds of finding prior materials increases some (sense the tunnels go deeper). Naturally of Diamonds and Emeralds are rare at any level (emeralds even more so). While I understand the desire for realism with it, I get tired of playing find and helped the stupid miner, We shouldn't have to babysit him and it probably be best for the developers to do this so they're not constantly trying to refined the AI as oppose to furthering the game itself or fixing more pressing bugs.
