There've been quite a few posts asking about the same things, so I decided to make a FAQ. Most of these are copy pasted from threads where these questions are asked.
There is also some up-to-date information on the unofficial site maintained by one of our forum-memebers.
I'm having trouble installing MineColony!
One of our users, bcoebiged21gamer, has created a tutorial video for installing ModLoader and MineColony. Check it out!
Make sure you have the correct version of MineColony and ModLoader for your version of Minecraft.
What version of MineColony should I be using?
RC17 for Minecraft 1.1
RC16 for Minecraft 1.0.0
RC15 for Minecraft 1.9.5
The game blackscreens!
I can't place my Town Hall!
Both of these problems are caused by installing the mod incorrectly.
Step by step instructions for installing ModLoader and MineColony are avaliable on the wiki.
My game crashes, and I don't get an error report!
If you have ModLoader installed correctly, there will be a ModLoader.txt file in your .minecraft folder. ModLoader records all errors in this file.
I have multiple mods installed, and there is a block ID conflict!
Most of the blocks added by MineColony are listed in the properties file, located in your .minecraft folder. You can edit the block IDs there. If the conflict is with a block ID that is not listed in that file, you can try ID Resolver.
How do I get more than 8 villagers?
You have to build the citizen houses to get more colonists. The first 8 live in the first 4 houses you build. You get 2 more for every house after that.
My builder won't build!
You have to give the builder a build order. If you wanted to build, say, a house... You go to the house, and open the citizen's chest. On the top right of the chest menu, there's an info button. Click that, and there should be a button that says "build house." Click that. It'll put up a sign that tells the builder to build the house.
Make sure that you're facing so your back is where you want the front door to be. Your builder doesn't need any tools, but depending on your build, he may need building supplies, like wood or cobble. He'll tell you if he does.
The Scepters aren't working!
The Scepter items are leftovers from older builds. They don't work at all in current builds. I don't know what builds they worked in. There is no official word from the mod devs on when, or even if, the scepters will be fixed. The mod is now built in such a way that you shouldn't need them, anyway.
Sound files not found?
For some reason, when copying over the MineColony files, sometimes the sound files don't copy correctly. They should be in the .minecraft folder, in the mods folder, in the MineColony folder. Usually, replacing these files with new copies from the zip folder fixes this problem.
MineColony crashes in Multiplayer!
MineColony is NOT multiplayer compatible, nor are there plans to make it compatible with multiplayer.
