the devs are strictly against this mod going multiplayer.

Don't know why, unless the codeing is different enough that they would basically have to rewrite the mod from scratch.

Thats not quite a true statement. We aren't devoting effort to it. But if a magic genie came along and offered to fix it as a wish, i wouldn't say no.

With minecrafts single and multiplayer code becoming more entwined, i see it much more likely to happen.

It's always just been something that the devs aren't going to go out of their way to do. They have enough stuff that they actually want to accomplish that comes first.
