Are custom floorplans allowed? I don't use houses anymore; my citizens live in skyscrapers. (redesigned houses to be stackable) that may conflict with Rule 4 of the competition "Can include any structures you want to build, but there should be no major modifications to the MC buildings." but i dont know for sure myself No, that looks pretty definitive. I didn't see that. That's a shame

ok, to clarify.. you CAN build other buildings other that standard minecolony buildings, and how you do that is up to you (by hand or using custom floorplans) - however the MAJORITY of buildings should be the standard Minecolony buildings Hope that is clearer

Well, thank you Colonists for the debate on the floorplans A) I am not a "Planner", I find out what I need to do and try to wing-it once I jump into the world. B) I had this nice vision : but Creepers Blew it to Smithereens. I am calling in reinforcements : user Floorplans and some I scanned in recently that have not made it to the forums ( long nights ). I THINK any Floorplans used in the Seed should be posted on the Forum : so that way the Developers , if they see something they like and can adjust for the official game can make use of them : AND other players can use them and not feel left out because they do not have a particular building or Floorplan available. My recent Scans are the result of such " left out " feelings : I had to hunt down things that Grandma has seen and try to fight with builders to scan the structures into the Floorplan files. Such as : Whitehouse1 and 2 : you do not have them yet but in Gold cove they are there ( I was testing the files since the creepers blow my stuff up so much I stopped trying to be choosey about the primary area and just pulled in random stuff along with the MC buildings ) I will TRY to organize a better set up later. The Colony Ship does not come up the way it did in rc19 : I worked for a LONG time to set up for the ship, nearly died a few times just trying to place the ship chest : AND IT CAME OUT FACING A DIFFERENT DIRECTION IN RELATION TO THE CHEST!!!!. In rc 19 the ship came up to the left and maybe 10 or so blocks away from the chest : I wanted the ship to face the opposite direction of the one I already placed in Colony in my regular world. NOOOOOOOOOes : it was not to be. I nearly croaked thinking it was going to ground itself, but it was fine....not how I wanted it but it can work. I also added the Frigate I like that ship, edited the lower decks but it is a nice ship, dark ( I manually place torches ) but nice. I have a few other structures that will go in the Primary Spawn area as I have the builders cleaning up for what I hope is a proper town closer to the Jungle : It would be easier if I could just send you my Main world, Colony is a very nice town : it was my first , un-planned , I was just trying to look at the structures... This seed thing... well, I think the problem is that I am trying to OBEY rules, as well as survive in the game and try to organize the staff .... I feel like I am working for the State Department : low resources and Hostile Natives that love the Gifts but hate the Government offering them. P.S. the tiny structure behind the Sheep, small wooden hut, is the Spawn Point, it has been upgraded with windows but I spawned next to trees and got a nice little wooden shelter going right off the jump. I fenced in some pigs and headed over to the neighbors to borrow some Wheat for Bread : very nice neighbors I got here I f I got more Beach then you do : eats your hearts out there is a desert near-by.

being as starwaster totally did not even notice my post : I now have a complex about my village. the MC buildings are beyond the picture range because they are core structures. I am recovering with designs for a ship that will take me most of the night, I have been on it for two days trying to get it to work : I will NOT restart my village ( so there ), I grew up in a segregated world so my colonies have always had that element of rich, middle and poor... here I have to add the Soldiers and Soldiers are not an economic class so it will be interesting to have the Defense Department dictate the Soldier's placements in the colony . I need better names for some of the scans I have : " build 015 " in the middle of of your stuff might not work for others

I FINALLY got the one ship "finished" : it is replication of a ship I had seen and took screen shots of : it took the builder a long time , it is a very, VERY big ship, Ark-like? it is the SSCove : AND : for Starwaster, I named the newest ship under construction Starchaser a much smaller ship, I was going for a MayFlower type but I am surrounded by trees in the test world, might as well play in the woods:) Yes, the sign on the block in the picture means the builder has a third project, but you might never see that one, its smaller and not as Impressive as Starchaser. I called it the Sloop : great for spawning Spiders Also, I looked at the seed world several times, I don't think that based on my past villages that I would seriously do anything different then what I have.....but it WILL be ' sprawling ' but I don't see any other way based on the terrain and economic levels of a coastal town.

I do NOT know where they actually show up or are oriented vis a vis the build sign but the floorplans are there. ------- I can do ALOT with my signs but the Colony ship has what i do not at the moment i was ready for it : the Barracks Box. to build the box I needed a Bow and I did not have one that was not used : so to get the box I released the colony ship, but after all the effort to set it based on my past experience in rc19 : I was not ready for the surprise I thought it was going to ground itself on my beach. Anyway, I was boating and running around the colony, trying to get signs out for landscaping work , rc20 is full of dead people : I loose more colonists in rc20 then I thought i even had. I liked it better when It did not tell me things I don't need to know : I don't care about ' slowpoke soldier " or Marget dying for the 6th time today. #Annoying and it bothers my cpu. to build a colony under hostile conditions = Play the colony. Build the colony to show other people in a CONTEST...... #BangsHeadOnWall. I have alot of buildings in my file : most are from the forum and a few I got from looking and testing and trying to replicate : like the "Triplets" : three cottages in a row, almost Identical ( almost ). Fastest way to get three structures up quickly was make them part of the same plan. I doubt I could win 9th place with this colony but one thing I do Know : I can present a colony built while taking heavy fire , things being blown up and offer a selection of buildings from my tall townhouses, cottages, the bakery store, the Beach Bar, my indoor farms ( all IF they survive ). And do it while scavenging resources, trying to feed myself , Supply the food and tools to the colony and stay out of range of the Creepers.....

You seem to have an issue with creepers, best way to avoid them is to sleep in a bed and skip night.

Grandma does that : I am not Grandma , the Rules say "Must be a Survival Map, on Normal Difficultly." I need stuff to survive, the colony needs things done that the builder can not exactly do, like decide on the next landscaping or building project. Or repair / sort out a road that fell into a deep hole or ran into the water. Gather everything you need for survival and building. if I play only in the day , I can not get string for the Bow or Fishing pole, I don't have time to see what I have to work with and where I want things. or stop things that might build into something else because I was rushing to fit everything in a day. BuilderInfiniteResources is for DeBug : so is InstaBuild. I am taking the colony the way it was set out to play and build, I COULD "cheat" a little with the settings, yes , but that is not part of the concept I think. The only things I did to the settings was extend working / townhall ranges ( except the Farmer: I reduced him to 25 , so he does not tear up my colony with Wheat : MinerWorkingRange=200 , he still tears up the colony but he gets the goodies too so I don't mind ) and adjusted the pay scales.. [Daily salaries] lumberjackSalary=2 ( I can get more wood myself ) minerSalary=3 ( almost worth the money but I need to save for repairs ) farmerSalary=2 ( incompetant , inefficient : I have Mexican relatives that find his work ethic offensive ) dmanSalary=2 ( I am not paying him to get excersize or short the workers : 10 seeds to the farmer is not enough to get the farm the Soldiers need ) builderSalary=3 ( worth the money but he does not work before 10am and quits around 5:30pm ) hunterSalary=2 ( he shot my cow : he got a reduction in pay ) bakerSalary=2 ( 9 Wheat ? seriously ? I got a village to feed! ) " I will not work till my hut is built " : how about " meet my little friend " ? ; I hate it when the common people just don't want to play by MY Rules

Well you could have said "Nah its ok, i don't often use beds" Instead what you said came off as kind of rude as if i was stupid and had no idea how the game works. Of course i know the builder don't work during the day. It doesn't matter, im likely not going to enter into the contest anymore, i freaky don't have the will or energy to try at it. I get playing and quickly lose focus and will.

You seem to have an issue with creepers, best way to avoid them is to sleep in a bed and skip night. So do I and I DO sleep in a bed. But even so, those damned creepers sneak up on me at the WORST time. I've taken to SPRINTING through doorways (opening them on the fly) and wheeling around and shutting them as fast as possible. Otherwise they'll hit me when I have the GUI open to put stuff in the builder's chest or miner's chest and then it's KABLOOIE chest contents ALL over the place. I even had one spawn in the daytime IN THE WAREHOUSE BASEMENT!!! I dunno about you guys but I make my base of operations the warehouse. As soon as possible I start sleeping there and I also do all my crafting there (having placed crafting table and furnace there) so it was a huge ordeal. My fault I guess. I panicked trying to retreat up the stairs and I got hung up on some object so I tried to fight the creeper instead of unsticking myself and leading him upstairs and out the door.. EDIT: BTW, let me also say here that in spite of official word from Mojang and the wiki and other sources, cats are a TERRIBLE defense against creepers. At great personal danger and expense I went to the trouble of taming and breeding a vast number of ocelots and even managed to trap and enclose a creeper in a pen. Creepers are supposed to be afraid of cats but I tell you now, they are NOT. At best they have a mild aversion to cats. The creeper approached the fence line even though I positioned over 20 cats between me and it. He'd approach to within 4 meters of me and then turn and run away for about 10 meters... sit there for a few seconds then tried to come at me again. I do not trust cats as creeper defense. (20 cats however did make for quite a bit of lag, not to mention thwarting my every attempt to access chest contents)

I get playing and quickly lose focus and will. I never try to be rude, I think in different terms. I do the minecraft for grandma, not for me : I play Transcendence . My minecraft talents are weak and nothing compared to you people. For ME to play the game, seriously, the competition thing is going to go bust for me I think, I can only " do so much " with floorplans and trying to plan the lay-out of the area under hostile conditions . In MY world : MCW ( my crazy world ) : I do not have the amount of problems with Hostiles as I do in the seed world, but I am based in the Arctic, they don't sneak up on me and it does not get that dark. I jumped into the seed and TRIED : but as starwaster points out it gets frustrating trying to play the seed and set up something worthy of showing others when you are doing the usual fighting, fixing and running around. But I understand the idea of the competition is the demonstrate Minecolony and not just it's existence but , I THINK, demonstrating how useful the features are to the player : not just having a colony of people to be concerned about in the game when all you originally wanted was to not feel so alone in the world. with the Builder I can get alot things done , but there is still that element of actually playing the game as well as trying to build the colony. So in terms of competition ; I do not see myself handing in a colony that is as nearly beautiful and well done as most of the great minds out there : it will ' just be a world " and they can take what they find ....or not.

Yeah my colony's are never that fabulous, they are good at least to me but the most impressive thing i have done is make a lighthouse that's about 40 blocks high, at times i make floor plans like bridges but the citizens never use them, mainly show pieces and space wasters. My issue is i lack creativity, i've never been that creative and so i sit there looking at a space and thing wow i have no idea what could go here. This is what i got so far, you cant see it but behind the town hall is the barracks and farms, i like to keep them in a 24x24 fenced in area or they ruin the land. I really dont know how i can make my colony look nice without using infinite resources. I do have the floorplan for that lighthouse if you wish to have it for future projects.
