As a further update. MCP was updated late last night for 1.8.1. I've downloaded it and installed it all on my machine, then had to go to sleep.
I will try to get Mine Colony at least compiled for 1.8.1 tonight. But i will be at work for 8 more hours so it won't be for a while. OTOH, some of the other developers may be able to do it all by the time I get home.
I haven't even started looking at all the changes which i understand to be larger than normal. Thats why it took so long for MCP to be updated.
Once i get Mine Colony compiled then i'll likely have to update things like the miner. Fix his bedrock error and tell him not to mine out all the new blocks that can be found down there.

Is there some way you can have them not fall off cliffs? like just not go forward if the drop is more than 2?

The colonists in general. With ravines in 1.8, I figure it'll be more of an issue than in 1.7.

When using the Aether mod with Minecolony, I didn't experience them falling off the cliffs once, even with the house chest two blocks away from the edge. It does seem that they have edge detection, but to what extent is the question.

Yeah. when my builders were dead set on trying to find a way down a 30 block cliff, they didn't try jumping at all unless there was a block they could safely land on.

Last night i managed to update the code for 1.8. The game has additional support for the adventure update with Damage Types, so i had to work that in somehow. Tonight i should at least get the game running and i'll build a colony near a ravine and see what happens.
At least sugar canes are easier to find now. But i understand that mobs spawn much slower now. So the settlers killing them all might be an issue.
