A lot of the stuff they're putting out in 1.9 (and 1.10) were things they were working on when they were making 1.8, and couldn't finish in time.
I'm sure if it's not changed, someone will have a mod out pretty quickly.
I really do wish he'd actually kept the whole promise of mod support for 1.8.

I would think this wouldn't annoy mod makers... they get access to the code before the majority of players use it.
And they started pre-releasing because the way people were handling 1.8... When the programmers are starting to get called at home, in the middle of the night, what can you do? Notch has damn near a cult following, and they're crazy. The response to the pre-release was good, and pretty much ended their harassment. They'd be stupid to do it once, and then not do it afterwards.
The only reason they're not releasing the patches in the unfinished form is that their consumer base is now large enough that they can't risk being liable for system damages. With it being a pre-release, they're no longer liable if it damages someone's computer. They also get thorough bug reports via getsatisfaction.

Shush. Besides, 1.8.2 and 1.9 aren't going to be that different from 1.8.1

Tested with ModLoader, GuiAPI (required for IDResolver), OptiFine, TMI.
No block ID conflicts. CastleDefender entities do not attack MineColony entities or vice versa. I didn't really look for an enemy castle, so I'm not sure how that works, but as far as being able to protect your Colony with CastleDefenders, you should be able to just fine.

I've had the problem too, where he goes far outside the defined range. I haven't had him demolish fences or anything though, so usually I just end up fencing him in. I've had him dig himself down into a cave building the water channels (which aren't very efficient), and I've had him flood whole areas, because he placed water on a hill.

There's a thread devoted to the progress so far right here.

Could you link Castle Defender? I don't really want to go searching for it right now (as it's 11:30pm for me).

Man, I wish there was some spoiler tag thing on proboards, like there is on the minecraft forums. It'd be nice to hide all the images for the first post...

at the moment he's hoeing 14/15 squares from his chest I think it's supposed to be distance from the chest, but I've had my farmer glitch a bit and farm way the hell away from where he's supposed to... so I dunno.

The colonists in general. With ravines in 1.8, I figure it'll be more of an issue than in 1.7.

Hokae.
Totally fresh 1.7.3 jar. ModLoader - GO ShockAhPI r6 - GO OptiFine - GO --->So it looks like the install order is pretty damn important. TMI - GO MineColony rc13 - GO Moon - Bzzt. Error 404.5 Dock not found. Shutting down.
Then my Minecraft goes into "Saving chunks" for all eternity.
Took out MineColony. Left Moon Mod in.
Moon mod works fine on its own. Re-installing MineColony: Nope.
MineColony is NOT compatible with the moon mod. The problem is with the builders. Moon mod had a robot builder, which requires a dock to function. When the dock is destroyed, it gives the "dock not found" error, and then deletes itself. The moon mod reads the builder worker as a robot builder, and attempts to delete the builder, but since the builder worker has a worker chest, it doesn't delete. Minecraft goes zomg and crashes.

I dunno if this is up on the wiki or not, but I'm too lazy to check right now. The Exchange Rate for the banker is as follows: 10 copper = 1 silver 5 silvers = 1 gold coin 2 gold coin = 1 iron ingot 2 iron ingots +1 gold coin = 1 gold ingot 4 gold ingots = 1 diamond

So Imma do the thing that you do when you're not a newb, and run it after every mod install, to see where the problem is. Lawl.
